‘Houthoff Buruma The Game’ is an interactive multimedia serious game developed specifically for Houthoff Buruma’s recruitment of law graduates.
 
There is an increasing gap between university life and what working at a top-tier law firm is really like. There are but a few really talented legal students graduating each year in the Netherlands and it is vital for Houthoff Buruma to compete for these students. At the same the limit has been reached of what you can communicate with traditional printed media.
 
Houthoff Buruma is looking for more than legal skills. A lawyer working for Houthoff Buruma has to be creative, solution-driven, immune to stress, worldly-wise and have excellent people skills. A serious game is an ideal tool to find these capacities in potential recruits. At the same time The Game will give the student a firsthand realistic experience of what working at a law firm such as Houthoff Buruma is like.
 
Houthoff Buruma is the first to use a serious game of this kind in the business sector. Purpose-made software has been developed in order to realize The Game, it is the first serious game of this complexity and richness of its multimedia content.

The primary target group of The Game is all Dutch legal students nearing the end of their studies. From its premiere in May 2010 until end January 2011 The Game has been played by some 800 Dutch law students.
